Launching the Very First Journey, Uniting Young Innovators

The 2020 GYEC marked the beginning of our global youth entrepreneurship journey. As the very first edition, it combined online training with in-person finals in Shanghai, establishing the foundation and structure for all future competitions.

Competition Highlights

Key dates and milestones across the competition
Online Training (August 5–10)

Students began their journey online with mentor-led workshops, including Design Thinking by Gabriela Fish and Money Matters All by Luis Liu, preparing teams with entrepreneurial concepts before meeting in person.

Opening & Orientation (August 11)

Participants arrived in Shanghai, registered, and attended the Opening Ceremony, followed by teamwork sessions and evening lectures on entrepreneurship, public speaking, and real-world case studies from Silicon Valley.

Teamwork & Public Pitch (August 12)

The day focused on team collaboration, pitch rehearsals, and a unique public roadshow, where teams presented to live audiences to gain support and feedback, before submitting their final pitch decks at midnight.

Final Competition & Closing (August 13)

The program concluded with the Final Pitch, jury evaluation, and the Award & Closing Ceremony, marking a historic first step for GYEC.

The 2020 Shanghai edition was not only the first but also the cornerstone of GYEC. By blending online learning with in-person finals, it created a lasting model that shaped the competitions in the years that followed.
